It is better for
couples who live in the UK and other countries to have their marriage
legally registered at the Notary or Registry Office in their own
country, then come to Cape Verde to have their marriage 'Blessed'. Blessings are symbolic ceremonies, they are not legally recognised. British nationals and people of other nationalities would find it difficult to legally marry here in Cape Verde. If you want to know more about why it is difficult to arrange a Legal (Notarised) marriage for tourists who are foreigners visiting Cape Verde, click here: Legal Marriages . Due to the minimum 30 day rule for tourists to be on the island before they can have a Legal Civil Marriage performed in Cape Verde, we are not able to provide a service for legal weddings for tourists visiting Cape Verde for just 2 or 3 weeks. We are able to arrange a Religious Marriage Blessing or Renewal of Vows for couples with the Evangelical Church if they are visiting Sal or Boavista for a one or two week holiday or honeymoon.
This Religious Marriage Blessing is not recognised as a legal marriage
ceremony in Cape Verde, as the Evangelical Church is not
recognised by Cape Verde Law for providing legal marriages here, therefor this type of blessing cannot be registered or Notarised in Cape Verde or in most other countries, including the UK.
This religious marriage blessing by the Evangelical Church is a
marriage blessing which has been performed on the islands of Cape Verde
for many years.
If Cape Verdeans wish to legally marry here with a Civil marriage, they will have to arrange to do this themselves separately and directly with the Notary. They may then also arrange their own Religious Blessing with the Evangelical Church.
We also arrange for couples to have a 'Love and Devotion' Reading (a non-religious reading). These ceremonies can be held at or near to venues on either Sal or Boavista. The Love and Devotion readings are a romantic jesture and are provided at a fixed price for the fraction of the cost of a 'Blessing'.
There are many more suitable beach venues on Sal Island than on Boavista from which you can choose.
Before

During November 2011 we will be in the UK. Please access the secure zones for further information and prices.
