August 2011: The Cabaret venue in Santa Maria has closed with intentions of re-building and making it 'The Venue' for cabaret and entertainment on Sal. A number rof bars and restaurants have changed ownership.

February 08: A number of Restaurants and Bars that have either opened up or seen new management recently are now offering 'special offers', happy hours and events to attract customers and many expats.

A mix of CapeVerdean music and jazz. African drums can be heard at some venues. At one venue they have English singers who perfom at a cabaret evening. I am not sure what there is available on other islands. Hotels continue to provide their own entertainment to keep their guests in the hotel.

A weekly Expat Cape Verde Newsletter usually informs Expats to 'whats on' and where. A number of local businesses, Expats on the islands subscribe to receive this information, or sometimes contribute to news. Occasionally Expats provide infofrom other islands other that Sal.
